The memorial for murdered Sinti and Roma opened on the 24th of October in Berlin. The memorial site is to remember the Porajmos, the nationalist genocide on European Sinti and Roma, persecuted as „gypsies“. There is a long tradition of antiziganism in Europe and until today rigid legal, economic and social practices of exclusion apply to European Roma.
Within the framework of the Kiez-Monatsschau young people swap to the side of the producer and rise to speak.
Under the guidance of Hamze Bytyci and Mehdi Moinzadeh young people, most of them Sinti and Roma themselves, observed the event around the opening of the memorial site. They interviewed Sinti and Roma families living in Berlin, politicians, activists and asked questions that are important to them.
