QUEER & QUER

akademie der autodidakten

„How can we translate ourselves? How can we contextualize ourselves? How do I position myself when my language depends on who is in front of me, the context that surrounds me, this constant negotiation and re-positioning … Who begins? You or me?“ (Queer&Quer, 2019)

From August until November, young queer people of color will be working with the theatre director and educator Laia Ribera Cañénguez. Coming together to talk about queerness, to write and to experiment with performative strategies of (gender) representation, they discuss the meaning of queer aesthetics for being queer. How can they contribute to shaping new subjectivities?

In the course of developing their performance they deconstruct normativity in order to create new artistic forms of representation. And last but not least, as experts of their own everyday lives, they present collective strategies for bringing their respective positions, voices and bodies to the stage at Ballhaus Naunynstraße.

+++Please note that we use Stroboscop Light during the performance+++
